Your trust matters to us. This policy explains what information Joygi handles, what stays private to you, and how our current product works.
Joygi is based in Maryland. We operate the Joygi website, Companions, account and access experiences, applications, communications, and related services described in this policy.
Our public website and account infrastructure are powered in part by Shopify and other service providers that help us operate Joygi.
This Privacy Policy applies when you visit or use Joygi, communicate with us, submit an application or form, purchase a paid Joygi offering where applicable, or otherwise interact with our Services.
Personal information we may collect or process
Depending on how you use Joygi, we may process information such as:
- Your name and email address
- Account and access information
- Transaction information if you purchase a paid Joygi offering
- Communications you send to Joygi
- Information you deliberately submit through a feedback form or application
- Device, browser, IP address, cookie, and other technical information used to operate and secure our website and account surfaces
- Public-site and product-access information used to understand whether our services are working as intended
- Information connected to a group or organization when needed to provide an agreed cohort experience
Private Companion reflection is treated differently from ordinary website, account, application, transaction, and technical information.
Your private Companion reflection
Private Companion reflection belongs to you.
Organizations do not receive your private Companion writing, Keepsake contents, Personal Branch contents, private reflection choices, reflection history, faith engagement, or an inferred emotional profile.
Joygi does not use AI to interpret a student's private interior life for an organization.
Under the current Companion implementation, saved private work is stored locally in the browser and device where that feature is implemented.
Signing into a Joygi account does not automatically upload or synchronize private Companion writing across devices.
Depending on the Companion and feature, locally saved work may include reflections, Keepsakes, Personal Branch state, and other private return state.
Make and Move creations that you explicitly choose to Keep are also stored locally under the current implementation.
If you give a creation an optional name or subtitle, that text is private Keepsake content.
Make or Move work that you do not Keep may be discarded when you close the space.
Where Joygi offers a backup, transfer, or export control, you choose whether to create and keep that file.
Account sign-in alone is not a backup and does not create cloud synchronization of private Companion work.
Clearing browser data, changing browsers, changing devices, losing access to a device, or using browser settings that do not preserve local storage can cause locally saved work to be lost.
Joygi does not promise cloud recovery of work that is stored only in your browser or device.
Shared devices
Saved work on a shared browser or device may be accessible to another person who uses that browser.
Use a personal device or browser where possible for private reflection.
Joygi provides applicable clear or remove-device controls for locally stored Joygi work.
If you are using a school, library, family, or other shared device, review those controls before leaving the device.
Signing out of an account is not the same thing as deleting locally stored work from the browser.
Analytics, website infrastructure, and private reflection
Joygi does not claim that its website has zero analytics, zero cookies, zero tracking, or zero third-party processing.
Shopify and ordinary website infrastructure may process account, storefront, device, browser, IP address, cookie, security, and technical information needed to operate the Services.
Marketing, analytics, or platform systems may also operate on public website surfaces where permitted and configured.
Private reflection prose is not analytics data.
Joygi does not intentionally send private Companion writing, private creation content, or private reflection prose to analytics systems, advertising systems, organizations, or AI interpretation systems.
We do not use private reflection prose to create an individual emotional profile for an organization.
If Joygi separately offers participation or evaluation reporting for a configured cohort, that reporting may use information that has been expressly disclosed for that purpose, such as participation, activation, return, or explicit evaluation signals.
It does not give the organization access to private Companion reflection or turn private reflection into inferred emotional reporting.
Feedback you choose to send
Feedback is separate from private Companion reflection.
If you deliberately submit feedback, a support message, survey response, or other communication to Joygi, we receive what you choose to send.
Please do not copy private reflection text or sensitive information into a support or feedback form unless it is necessary for us to help you.
We may use submitted feedback to understand and improve Joygi.
Campus Ambassador applications
Campus Ambassador application information is separate from private Companion reflection.
An application may include:
- Your submitted application responses
- Your name and contact information
- Campus or school information you provide
- Application status
- Necessary communications metadata
- Limited founder or team review notes used to administer the application process
Our team reviews every application. We may use AI tools to help organize or summarize responses, but we do not use AI to rank applicants or make selection decisions.
Submitting an Ambassador application does not give Joygi access to private Companion reflection.
Groups and organizations
A school, nonprofit, program, company, club, chapter, team, or other organization may work with Joygi around a group or cohort.
An organization may help configure context, timing, resources, milestones, or other agreed parts of a Joygi experience.
That does not give the organization access to a student's private Companion reflection.
Organizations do not receive private writing, Keepsake contents, Personal Branch contents, private reflection choices, reflection history, faith engagement, or inferred emotional profiles.
Where separately offered and disclosed, organizational reporting may include agreed implementation information or participation signals such as activation, return, or explicit evaluation responses.
Joygi does not infer a student's emotional state for an organization from private reflection.
Paying for, sponsoring, configuring, or facilitating a Joygi experience does not give an organization ownership of a student's private Companion content.
Sources of personal information
We may receive personal information:
- Directly from you
- Through your account or use of public Joygi website surfaces
- Automatically through ordinary website technologies such as cookies and technical logs
- From Shopify and service providers that help operate Joygi
- From an organization or program where needed to administer an agreed experience
- From other parties where you direct the disclosure or where permitted by law
How we use personal information
We may use personal information to:
- Operate and maintain Joygi
- Provide account and product access
- Administer applications and communications
- Provide customer and technical support
- Process paid transactions where applicable
- Secure the Services and prevent fraud or abuse
- Understand public-site and product performance
- Improve Joygi
- Communicate with you about the Services
- Conduct marketing where permitted by law
- Comply with legal obligations
- Enforce our terms and policies
We do not treat private Companion reflection prose as ordinary product analytics or marketing data.
How we disclose personal information
We may disclose personal information to service providers that help us operate Joygi, including providers of:
- Website and ecommerce infrastructure
- Information technology
- Account and access systems
- Analytics where approved
- Customer support
- Cloud and communications services
- Marketing services on applicable public website surfaces
We may also disclose information when you direct us to do so, when required by law, to protect Joygi or others, or in connection with a lawful financing, restructuring, acquisition, or sale of the business.
These disclosures do not change the private-reflection boundaries described above.
Relationship with Shopify
Shopify provides important website and commerce infrastructure for Joygi.
Shopify may process information about your access to and use of Shopify-powered Joygi surfaces in order to provide its platform and related services.
Shopify's own privacy terms apply to its processing.
The presence of Shopify or another website provider does not mean an organization receives a student's private Companion reflection.
Third-party links
Joygi may link to websites, resources, or services operated by other organizations.
Their own terms and privacy practices apply when you leave Joygi and use those services.
Young users
Joygi is designed for people age 13 and older, including high school and college students.
If you are under 18, you may use Joygi only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
Joygi is not intended for children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to Joygi, contact us at hello@choosejoygi.com so we can review the situation and take appropriate action.
A parent, guardian, school, organization, or other group providing access does not receive access from Joygi to a student's private Companion reflection.
A student may choose to share something from their own reflection with another person.
That choice belongs to the student.
Security and retention
No security system is perfect.
We use reasonable measures appropriate to the information and systems we operate.
Please avoid sending private reflection text or unnecessary sensitive information through ordinary email, support, application, or feedback channels.
We retain personal information we actually hold for as long as reasonably necessary to operate Joygi, maintain appropriate business records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements.
Browser-local private Companion work follows the local-storage behavior described in this policy rather than ordinary Joygi account retention.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal information Joygi or its service providers hold, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or certain privacy opt-outs.
Those rights apply to information Joygi actually holds.
For locally stored Companion work, use the applicable Joygi clear or remove-device controls or your browser controls.
Clearing local browser data may permanently remove saved Joygi work.
Where required by law, we honor applicable privacy preference signals and opt-out rights.
You can unsubscribe from promotional email through the unsubscribe link in those messages.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain privacy requests.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our product, practices, technology, or legal obligations change.
When we do, we will post the updated policy and revise the date at the top.
