1. Overview
Welcome to Joygi.
The terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Joygi.
Joygi is based in Maryland.
Joygi operates an interactive reflection platform for young people, including the Joygi website, Companions, account and access experiences, and related services described in these Terms.
Our website infrastructure is powered in part by Shopify.
By accessing or using Joygi, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
2. What Joygi is
Joygi is an interactive reflection platform designed to give young people room to pause, notice what matters, reflect, create, move, and carry something useful forward.
A Companion is one Joygi experience.
Joygi is not therapy, counseling, diagnosis, medical care, crisis support, or a substitute for professional care.
Joygi does not provide medical diagnoses or treatment recommendations.
If something you are carrying needs more support than Joygi can provide, reach out to someone you trust or someone trained to help.
In the United States, you can call or text 988 for suicide and crisis support.
If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
Unless Joygi expressly states otherwise, the appearance of a school, college, university, organization, chapter, team, community, or place name in a Joygi experience does not mean that entity authored, endorsed, sponsored, or controls Joygi.
3. Age and permission
Joygi is designed for people age 13 and older.
Some Joygi experiences are specifically designed for high school and college students.
If you are under 18, you may use Joygi only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
If you are under 13, please do not use the Services.
A parent or legal guardian who permits a minor to use Joygi agrees to these Terms on the minor's behalf to the extent permitted by law.
4. Accounts and access
Some parts of Joygi require an account or sign-in.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating or using an account and to keep your account credentials secure.
You may not sell or improperly transfer your account.
A Joygi account may provide access to a Companion or other Joygi surface.
Account access does not mean that private Companion writing is synchronized to Joygi's servers or across your devices.
5. Free core Companions
Joygi's current core student Companions are free.
No purchase is required to use the free core Companions.
Joygi may ask you to create a free account or sign in so that it can provide access.
Free core Companion access does not mean that every Joygi feature, product, experience, or service will always be free.
Joygi may separately offer optional paid features, premium functionality, products, services, or experiences.
If Joygi offers something for a fee, the applicable price and any relevant payment, cancellation, access, or refund terms will be disclosed with that offering.
We do not promise any particular future premium feature or paid offering until it is actually made available.
6. Browser-local saved work
Some Companion content is currently stored locally in your browser on the device you are using.
Depending on the feature, this may include saved reflection, Keepsakes, Personal Branch state, return state, and Kept Make or Move creations.
Signing into your account on another browser or device does not automatically bring that locally stored private work with you.
Clearing browser data, changing browsers, changing devices, using private browsing, losing a device, or losing access to its storage can cause locally saved work to disappear.
Joygi does not promise cloud recovery of browser-local private work.
Where an available Joygi feature lets you create a backup, transfer, or export file, you are responsible for deciding whether to create it, where to keep it, and where to import it.
A backup or transfer mechanism is separate from account synchronization.
If you use a shared browser or device, another person using that browser may be able to access locally stored Joygi work.
Use the applicable Joygi clear or remove-device control when you no longer want that work stored on the device.
7. Private reflection
Private Companion reflection belongs to the student.
Providing access to Joygi does not give a parent, school, organization, sponsor, program, or other third party access through Joygi to private Companion reflection.
Organizations do not receive private Companion writing, Keepsake contents, Personal Branch contents, private reflection choices, reflection history, faith engagement, or inferred emotional profiles.
Joygi does not use AI to interpret a student's private interior life for an organization.
A student may independently choose to share something from their reflection with another person.
Joygi's privacy boundary does not prevent the student from making that choice.
8. Groups and organizations
A school, nonprofit, program, company, chapter, club, team, or other organization may work with Joygi for a group or cohort.
An organization may configure or agree with Joygi on context, timing, resources, milestones, implementation, or other parts of a cohort experience.
That relationship does not give the organization access to students' private Companion reflection.
Where separately offered and disclosed, reporting may include agreed implementation, participation, activation, return, or explicit evaluation signals.
Reporting must not be understood as an inferred emotional state derived from private reflection.
Configured Joygi work, implementation support, facilitation, or other organizational services may be governed by a separate proposal, order, invoice, statement of work, or agreement.
If a separate written agreement conflicts with these Terms regarding that organizational engagement, the separate agreement controls for that engagement to the extent of the conflict.
9. Paid Joygi offerings
Joygi may offer optional paid features, premium functionality, products, services, organizational work, or other experiences separately from the free core Companions.
The price and scope of a paid offering will be described when it is offered.
Paid offerings may have additional terms covering access, billing, cancellation, refunds, delivery, or other conditions.
If a separate written agreement or offering-specific term applies, that term controls for that paid offering to the extent of any conflict.
10. Campus Ambassadors
The Joygi Campus Ambassador program is currently for college students who are 18 or older.
Participation is voluntary and currently unpaid.
There are no required hours or posting quotas.
Ambassadors may step back from participation.
Ambassadors may choose to contribute through strengths such as video, social media, events, community introductions, product feedback, or other forms of campus participation.
Nothing in these Terms creates a required promotional quota or prescribed set of deliverables for the current Ambassador program.
Any future paid project, employment relationship, contractor role, or other compensated opportunity requires a separate agreement.
11. Intellectual property
The Services, including Joygi's trademarks, names, logos, designs, authored content, graphics, digital materials, Companions, Seeds, Editions, and arrangement of those materials, are owned by Joygi or its licensors and are protected by applicable law.
These Terms permit personal, non-commercial use of student-facing Joygi experiences unless Joygi expressly agrees to another use.
Except where Joygi authorizes it or applicable law permits it, you may not reproduce, redistribute, resell, sublicense, publicly distribute, or commercially exploit Joygi materials.
What you create or write privately inside a Companion remains yours.
Joygi does not claim ownership of your private Companion reflection.
12. Feedback you deliberately submit
If you deliberately send Joygi feedback, ideas, suggestions, application responses, reviews, or comments, Joygi may use that submitted material for lawful business and product purposes.
You must have the right to submit what you send.
This section applies to material you intentionally send to Joygi.
It does not give Joygi ownership of private Companion reflection that remains within the private Companion experience.
13. Third-party services and links
Joygi may link to or rely on third-party services that we do not fully control.
Third-party services have their own terms and privacy practices.
Your use of those services is subject to their applicable terms.
14. Relationship with Shopify
Shopify provides website and commerce infrastructure used by Joygi.
Transactions processed through Shopify, where applicable, are between you and Joygi.
Shopify's own terms and privacy practices also apply to Shopify's processing and platform services.
15. Acceptable use
You may use Joygi only for lawful purposes.
You may not:
- Use Joygi for fraud, abuse, harassment, threats, or unlawful activity
- Infringe another person's intellectual property or other rights
- Impersonate another person
- Introduce malicious code
- Attempt to defeat account, access, or security controls
- Improperly scrape or automate access in violation of technical restrictions
- Collect personal information about others unlawfully
- Resell or commercially distribute Joygi access or content without permission
- Interfere with the security or operation of the Services
Joygi may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, fraud, security concerns, or violations of these Terms.
16. Automated agents
If an automated or semi-automated software agent interacts with Joygi, it must comply with these Terms and applicable technical restrictions.
An automated agent may not conceal its automated nature, impersonate a person, or circumvent access or security controls.
Joygi may restrict automated access where needed to protect the Services.
17. Service changes and availability
Joygi is an evolving product.
Features, interfaces, authored content, and availability may change over time.
We may correct errors, improve features, replace features, or discontinue parts of the Services, subject to applicable law and any separate agreement that applies.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
18. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
Joygi does not guarantee that the Services will always be uninterrupted, secure, timely, or error-free.
To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties that are not expressly stated, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty exclusions, so some provisions may not apply to you.
19. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Joygi and its service providers, contractors, agents, affiliates, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, exemplary, or consequential damages arising from or relating to your use of the Services.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Some jurisdictions do not permit certain liability limitations.
20. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Joygi, Shopify, and their respective affiliates, service providers, contractors, agents, and personnel from losses, liabilities, claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising from your material breach of these Terms, your unlawful conduct, infringement of another person's rights, or misuse of the Services.
21. Termination
Joygi may suspend or terminate access where reasonably appropriate for a violation of these Terms, fraud, abuse, unlawful conduct, unauthorized resale, or a security concern.
Termination does not retroactively erase rights or obligations that arose before termination.
Provisions that logically continue after termination remain in effect.
22. Severability
If a provision of these Terms is found unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, it will be enforced to the fullest extent permitted by law and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
23. Waiver and entire agreement
Our failure to enforce a provision does not waive that provision or another right.
These Terms, together with the policies incorporated into them, govern use of Joygi except where a separate written agreement governs a specific organizational engagement or transaction.
24. Assignment
You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
Joygi may assign its rights and obligations as part of a lawful financing, reorganization, sale, or transfer of the business.
25. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, disputes may be heard in the state or federal courts located in Maryland.
Nothing in this section removes consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.
26. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Joygi changes.
The revised version will state its effective date.
Where required by law, we will provide appropriate notice of material changes.
A change to these Terms does not alter a separate organizational or paid-offering agreement unless that agreement allows the change.
